Today I learned: There is a gender-neutral equivalent to niece and nephew. "Nibling." And it dates back to well before I was born, too! Bonus!

Tell all your enbuddies. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it. I know I did.

thank you all for coming to my ted talk my birthday is tomorrow so if you've got wealth you feel like redistributing head on over here and abuse bastard bezos's bargain basement to help (slowly) lift someone (me) out of poverty: snouts.online/@LexYeen/1016788

every little bit helps.

@LexYeen is there a gender neutral eqivalent to aunt and uncle

@Shutsumon One I saw floating around was "pibling," meaning "sibling of one's parent," but the source mentioning it explicitly said it wasn't in common use.

What say we change that, eh? πŸ’™

@cathal @Shutsumon I see no reason why this term shouldn't be used!

@LexYeen @Shutsumon I mean, sure, but that's because non-gendered words in general aren't in common use and that's definitely shifting. My comrade is "pibling" to their various niblings

@LexYeen Funny you mention that! I've heard that term from CGP Grey's family tree video. Never looked into the history of the term though. That's so cool!
