"you wouldn't download a" trivia (cw: sketchy business practices) Show more
Hollywood-funded anti-piracy association Brein, the people who made the "you wouldn't download a car" ad, tried to stiff Melchior Rietveldt, the musician who composed the music for it, out of the vast bulk of his royalties. They told him the ad would only be shown at a local film festival, then stuck the ad on a bunch of DVDs and acted like they had full right to.
So, like, if you're ever wondering if anti-piracy capitalists hate piracy? The answer is "no". They'll steal and lie seven days a week and twice on Sundays. They just hate seeing people enjoy media without paying them.
Michigan license plates, cops Show more
I think my first big acab realization was a few years ago when I found out that here in Michigan you have to get a new license plate every ten years no matter the condition, because some cops whined that they were having a hard time seeing certain plates that were starting to deteriorate

haha hey so my insurance company won't even process my claim until the end of december most likely and even then it's not a guarantee that i'll be reimbursed for paying for my meds out of pocket. also was confirmed my insurance company will do nothing about compensating me for my lack of insurance for most of november.

Police Vehicle Identification (Part 3) Show more
To continue from yesterday, this part will cover the newer Ford Explorer Interceptor models precincts are using.
Just like the Taurus Interceptor, these are very sparse and utilitarian compared to the civilian variant. They have no roof rails, black plastic mirror caps, front grille, rear spoiler and rear garnish on the tailgate. They also do not have mirror turn signals at all, it’s an easy give away.
Also, there are two versions: ‘13-‘15 & ‘16+
Police Vehicle Identification (Part 2) Show more
We come to the second car in these discussions, the Ford Taurus Interceptor. These were built as the P71 Crown Vic’s replacement. These look utilitarian like the Crown Vic, but these are far more unique than its normal Taurus model counterparts when you look at the details.
They have their own unique front clip. Grille, bumper, headlights are all distinct to this Taurus model.
Just like the P71, these had steel wheels, some had wheel covers.
Police Vehicle Identification (Part 1) Show more
First part of my multi-thread discussions on identifying police vehicles. Let’s start with the basics right off the bat: the most recognizable of them all, the P71 Ford Crown Victoria
P71s are usually very basic in appearance. No fancy trim, black plastic grille and mirror caps, black trim on the trunk in between the license plate and tail lights. 90% all had steel wheels as well, some had wheel covers. They never had nice alloy wheels unless from its owner

Oh, how nice of my back to remind me why this is my last week at Kroger.
Three more days.
