Hot take: I never find a reason to not spread my own responses into other people's public posts. If you don't like that, there's a mute feature in this great thing.

Good news, everyone! We're killing God! I'm so proud of y'all right now. πŸ’š We just gotta be a good JRPG party and finish the job. πŸ’š We'll beat that boss fight in no time.

hey, like or boost this and i'll draw your avatar in MSpaint

@Ace I'm sorry for asking this, I didn't realize it was both an instance admin's requirement to verify their instance first, and that Mastodon 2.8 was the first version to allow stuffing the verification JSON file in the place where Keybase can verify it for the whole instance before any users can post usable proofs. I'll resume whatever I was doing elsewhere instead of bugging you about this. :D

@Ace Was there something involved with getting approved for listing with Keybase that Snouts has rejected, or is there any particular reason this instance isn't supported for proofs? I should probably ask the Keybase people about it before I ask you, but eh, I figure I'll send this second. First line was asking a Keybase channel.

If someone suggests that you should deploy ETS instead of TLS 1.3, they are selling you snake oil and you should run in the other direction as fast as you can eff.org/deeplinks/2019/02/ets-

Alright, fuck it let's do this. If you got a patreon, ko-fi, liberapay or whatever, reply with it and I will boost. Cannot promise donations, but I will use what reach I have to help if I can. Let's actually build that support network I was talking about earlier.

I encourage others to boost this status and all the posts that end up beneath it to get as wide a spread as possible.

Not sure if this will even work, but I feel like I should at least try.

Politics, political philosophy?

guess which all-powerful tech monopoly is breaking ublock origin (and umatrix, and likely many other similar add-ons, such as noscript) in their browser, which happens to be the most popular browser in the world?

bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/i

who could have foreseen this? who would ever think that an advertising company's web browser would end up breaking compatibility with an ad blocker? frankly i'm shocked

me: windows is terrible and you should never use it
people who use windows: haha yeah *boost*

Nobody really asked, but I'm currently running a dual boot setup between Windows 10 Pro and Arch Linux, and I have a Windows Dev VM (10 Pro) that lives in a 128GB VHD image on the Windows native drive, and I intend to switch the Windows side over to VirtualBox, in sync with what I use in Linux now, so I can develop from either OS. I mainly dev from a VM because MSVC debugging with GDI related mutexes locking up the user session is a real shitshow even today. WinDBG supposedly doesn't do this.

Emoji 20th anniversary, important thing to talk about but it's not pleasant.

wild how epic games gives a shit about open source only when it shuts down competitors and not when it comes to developing games for Linux

Wtf. I just read the ingredients list, it does contain alcohol.

What the hell? Opened a fresh bottle of Dial Complete Pearl Essence foaming soap, and it’s different now. And not in a good way. It goes flat in my hands almost immediately, and smells strongly of alcohol.

Uhh, Gnome? Are you really supposed to be putting my machine to sleep the instant I log out of my desktop?

I just realized why Telegram Desktop doesn't have the video decoding glitches that macOS and Linux have on odd widths of H.264 videos and "GIF"s... it doesn't appear to support hardware decoding at all on Windows.
