Also this event is where I learned how to grow oyster mushrooms! I don't have the official word yet but I'm pretty sure that class is coming back this year. You leave it with your very own mushroom kit.
Other staples: tool sharpening, free seeds from the King County seed library, a clothing & book exchange, free lunch, mason bees, and all sorts of other home repair/gardening/crafting stuff.
#Seattle - I'm officially confirmed to lead an edible weeds workshop on Feb 8 at the Meadowbrook Community Center. Even in the middle of winter there are lots of nutritious wild greens; I'll show you a few that are safe and delicious for beginning foragers.
This is part of the Sustainable NE Seattle Hands-On Skills Fair, a full day of free workshops on practical skills for community resilience and lower-impact living. Trying to find a non-FB link for it, but for now:

Bootsy Collins is so fucking interesting. the dude went from working in James Brown's band, in the employ of an absolute task master authoritarian that used hidden dance moves to indicate that he was docking his musicians' pay DURING LIVE PERFORMANCES...
... to playing bass in Parliament Funkadelic, where the only real hurdle was being sober enough to perform the greatest party music ever written.
and he's a damn sweetheart too.
